All the houses on the ‘Observatory Hill’ were formerly British Raj Boarding Houses and are made exactly the same as they were long time back. It was then converted into a hotel just before the outbreak of the Second World War. During the first National Awards Ceremony for outstanding hotels held in September 1994,the Prime Minister presented WelcomHeritage Windamere with an Award for Excellence as a Heritage Hotel of India.
